Dianthus ‘Amazon’ is a cultivar created by crossing Dianthus chinensis, Chinese dianthus or pinks;
and Dianthus barbatus, sweet Williams (originally from southern Europe). It is popular as a short-lived garden perennial. They are sometimes
described as cool weather annuals because they thrive in cool summers, but dislike hot and humid summers.
Flowers: Most pinks or sweet Williams are uniformly colored, but
this cultivar is multicolored. Flowers are ¾″ (1.9 cm) in diameter, initially white, aging to soft pink, then becoming an intense rose
color. All three colors appear together. Flowers appear in dense, colorful clusters.
